Connect to the CAN Bus and Scan Devices

    The way in which you connect to a Curtis device depends upon whether you have a device profile. If you have a device profile, it’s recommended that you install the device profile before connecting. However, you can perform many diagnostic and configuration tasks without a device profile.

    In both cases, you’ll scan devices connected to the CAN bus. However, if you have a device profile, you’ll first need to add it to the device profile library.

    To scan the devices connected to the CAN bus, select Communication » Scan for Devices or click the Scan for Devices button. The following occurs while CIT scans:

    • Launchpad displays buttons for some applications. The applications available depend upon the CIT edition and the device.

    • For each device connected to the CAN bus, CIT creates a device node.

    • You can view device properties to diagnose issues such as a device's OS version.
