System Node and Device Nodes

Launchpad displays a node for each device under the top node. CIT uses the following terms to describe these nodes:

  • The system node is the top node. The system node is labelled with the vehicle name that you specified in the Create a Project procedure.
  • The device nodes represent the devices added to the project.

The following example contains two device nodes under the system node, which is named Vehicle System:

The selected node determines the CIT applications available for use. For example, the Package and Flash application is available only when the system node is selected. For another example, whether a menu created in Programmer applies to a device or to the entire vehicle system depends upon which node is selected when you open Programmer.

Note: The system node’s parameter values and menus are not written to devices when flashing. The parameter values and menu flashed onto a device depends upon the menu selected in the Package and Flash application.
